When I was a youngster and the proper age for attending Kindergarten my relatives from Leipzig, Germany sent me a Kindercone to ease the angst associated with the very first day of school. I remember it fondly, for it was filled with strange eastern European goodies. The Kindercone, or Schultute, is a German tradition that dates back to the early 1800's. To celebrate the opening of our elementary school, and to welcome the newest class of Kindergarteners I decided to import this teutonic tradition to North County! So our team researched, designed, fabricated, and filled the Kindercones during our first week of class. It was a meaningful project that also informed our ninth graders about the basics of PBL and the design process therein.
Please find below photo-documentation of the PROCESS! Enjoy.
