This full year course is designed to give students a basic understanding of the living world. In this course students' understanding of life science will expand by incorporating more complex knowledge, such as the structure and function of DNA, and more comprehensive theories, such as evolution. Students' understandings will encompass scales that are both smaller, for example, molecules, and larger, i.e. the biosphere. Students will investigate life through the study of 5 strands: Cell Biology, Genetics, Ecology, Evolution and Physiology. Knowledge of these strands will be applied through investigation and experimentation. This course does not have a formal lab requirement. Students who are university bound are directed to take Biology A/B with a lab section. This course fulfills the life science graduation requirement.

SALSA SEED LAB!
Please find below pictures form our recent lab wherein we are comparing the seeds taken from ORGANIC produce with seeds taken from NON-ORGANIC produce. We are learning the steps of the scientific method as we go. Our experiment will aim to see which seeds have a higher germination rate. After we collect the DATA we will see if it supports our HYPOTHESIS.
