Find below photos from our first day back! Opening and organizing our new VEX components for Principles of Engineering- Project Lead the Way- year 2. We also set up or new Lulzbot 3-D printer!
Day 2:
Let's build a VEX ROBOT with a giant CLAW!
And continue working with our 3-D printer, Rocktopus anybody?!
We started on simple machines today: pulley, wedge, wheel and axle, screw, lever and inclined plane. The students were challenged to go out into the real world and take photos of each of the simple machines and post their findings on their digital portfolios. Then we delved into Mechanical Advantage (MA), Ideal Mechanical Advantage (IMA) and Actual Mechanical Advantage (AMA). We put numbers to the concepts by working a few problems. Lastly, we got back to robotics! All in all, it was a fine mix of technology, design, theory, math, physics, and robots!
